A featured musical has been announced for the Cotswolds and families looking to have a little fun in the theater this Christmas can purchase tickets now.
The show, which took place at The Barn Theater in Cirencester, was written by Alan Pollock, co-creator of longtime BBC drama Two Attachments, with David Walliams, and editor of ITV series such as The Bill, A&E and Crossroads.
It will be directed by Francesca Goodridge, the first recipient of the Carne Traineeship for Directors in Wales at Theater Clwyd and co-founder of The Far Away Plays – an online play reading company that champions Welsh and Welsh creators.

Francesca’s credits include BARK! The Musical and Adam, Eve and Steve. She also directed two episodes of Aaron Sidwell’s Barn Theater and Shakespeare in the digital locked series Bard From The Barn; direct Natasha Barnes and Georgina Squires in season two and Lorna Fitzgerald in season three.
The production, which is based on the popular Cinderella tale from the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tales, was originally scheduled to debut in winter 2020 as part of the 2020 Built by Barn season of the theater, but has been postponed due to the pandemic.
This will be Alan Pollocks’ third production to debut as Barn Theater after 2019’s A Christmas Carol with Patrick Ryecart and 2020’s Peter Pan with Waylon Jacobs.

Tarek Merchant is the originator of the music for the show, he created a range of new sheet music for theatrical productions, including The Prince and the Pauper, First Encounters: The Merchant of Venice at the as well as composed the songs. for Marcy Kahan’s BBC 4 radio station. play Big In Samoa. The full cast of actor-musicians in the production is: Jesse Ashby of Mr Tipsy’s Down the Hatch, as Jakob, The Father, Regent, Scarecrow and Stepmother, Matthew Romain, Holes, as Wilhelm, Tom and Prince, Tanya Bridgeman, Shoes to Fill, Off West End Commendation, like Cinderella.
Barn’s Managing Director and Artistic Director Iwan Lewis said of the show: “Wilhelm and Jakob are the ultimate weird couple. These are the Grimm brothers. It’s late and the brothers are arguing. A young girl appears, Cinderella and we are embarked on a tale of kindness, cruelty, music and magic, slippers, pumpkins and wolves.
“Mixing song, illusion and puppet, this production will be Cinderella as you’ve always known her but never seen her before.”
The show will take place in the Cotswold from November 16, 2021 to January 2, 2022.
