Branford musical group making the most of their talents

BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – From songs in a classroom to trips around the world. There is a musical group that makes the most of their talents.

The Branford High School Music Makers are a highly sought after auditioned singing group.

“I worked and worked and finally got here,” said Lieve Shpitalnik.

You might catch them singing during the holiday season, even though right now they’re training for an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World.

“We record with some of the artists who record,” said Mike Martone, Jr., Music Director. “We play on some of the stages there.”

The group is excited about their performance at Walt Disney World. Program directors say it’s much more than what happens on stage on this trip.

“It’s a way to bring in the history of music and really understand the culture of music and how much more important that is than just singing songs in a classroom,” Martone said, Jr.

Over the years they have traveled to Europe and other major destinations. They raise their own funds and learn to travel on their own, skills that can’t always be learned in the classroom. It is their impact on others that they are most proud of.

“When everyone comes together to listen to something as joyful as the music we created,” Shpitalnik said. “It created a sense of hope for everyone who comes to listen.”
