DVIDS – News – Music Group Wester Plays Free Concert for Fort McCoy Community

Wester Band performers performed a free concert Sept. 3 for the Fort McCoy community at the Whitetail Ridge Ski Area in Fort McCoy.

The concert was an ongoing celebration of Pine View Recreation Area’s 50th anniversary. It was also a highlight event in Fort McCoy for Labor Day weekend, as Pine View Campground was once again full of campers, and the concert gave the campground’s many guests a place to enjoy. some of Nashville’s new country sounds with Wester.

Pearl Clarkin took lead vocals at the concert for Wester as her brother was unable to attend due to illness.

DFMWR Business and Recreation Division Manager Scott Abell said it was great that Wester made the concert free for the Fort McCoy community and the public.

“We were really excited to have them here from Nashville,” Abell said. “It kind of starts a tradition of concert environment that we want to have at Whitetail in the future.”

DFMWR had staff members on hand to offer support to performers and provide refreshments for sale to spectators.

Whitetail Ridge is within walking or short driving distance of Pine View Campground and offers plenty of open space for outdoor concerts and has facilities for other activities with the cabin available, Abell said. . “Other concerts could be planned,” he said.
